NADIA
Hello! I’m Nadia, a professional hair and make up artist and bridal beauty specialist based in Hove, East Sussex.
EXPERIENCE
I became a professional make up artist four years ago after my training at Lash and Thread in Brighton and I have been styling bridal and special occasion hair for just over a year following my training at the Alicia Sandeman Academy in West Sussex. I have been involved in many bridal photoshoots in the UK and Europe where I have created various bridal hair and make up looks and styled many brides on their wedding day. My work has also been featured on the front cover of Your Sussex Wedding magazine!
PASSION
I love seeing how each bride does their day completely differently; the different colours, flowers, dresses, everything involved in a wedding that makes it unique to that bride. I love hearing about all the heart felt details, planning, ideas and research that’s been so well thought of and brought together. It's really touching to be part of such an incredibly special day and I have always loved talking about weddings so it's the perfect job and industry for me to be involved in because I get to do this over and over again!
EXPERTISE
I love creating fresh, glowing makeup and romantic bridal hairstyles to enhance a brides natural beauty. Creating half-up-half-down hairstyles involving twists and chunky braids are my favourite and for make up it’s all about glowing skin and beauty enhancing make up which makes a bride feel like the best version of themselves while still feeling like them!
LET’S GET PERSONAL
My passion is learning about skincare and makeup - It’s more than just a job for me, I honestly love researching, learning, watching anything to do on how to care for your skin, the newest best products to use and learning how to do new makeup techniques. I never stop!
Aside from make up and hair, my two children take up most of my time now, we spend our time at parks, baking cakes, and building train tracks!
I also used to do alot of cycling - I once cycled to Paris and back. And before children I did alot of fun runs, the hardest I ever did was 'Hell runner' it was freezing and I couldn't feel my toes for most of it!
Claire
Hi! I’m Claire, a professional hair and make up artist and qualified beautician based in Peacehaven, East Sussex.
Experience
I became a professional make up artist and beautician sixteen years ago and have been styling bridal hair for five years since training at Brighton Make up School, where I met Sarah. My experience with make up ranges from bridal and special occasion all the way through to avant-garde, fashion and photographic make up. During my career as a hair and make up artist I have experienced work on photoshoots, at hen parties, festivals and corporate events all over the country and now enjoy focusing on weddings and bridal hair and make up.
Passion
I love seeing a bride transform from start to finish. When everything comes together with the hair, make-up, accessories and dress, the bride looks absolutely stunning and she is glowing from within! I love to watch a brides reaction when she sees her reflection in the mirror and it gives me great satisfaction when I can see the smile and knows she feels beautiful, confident and happy for her special day. I love being surrounded by all the finer details on a wedding morning such as the flowers, decorations and especially with all the happy emotions that the bride and bridal party are feeling, it's so beautiful to see and be a part of.
Expertise
This is a really difficult part to answer as I love so many styles and creating all bridal looks but if I had to choose my favourite I would say I love doing natural glam makeup and loose curly updos for bridal hair. I think braids are a very pretty addition to any style and love adding accessories such as flowers or a slide to compliment a look.
Let’s Get Personal
My hobbies are spending time with my family and doing fun things. I love the outdoors, going on adventures, bike rides, walks along the coast and in the country side. I love holidays in the sun and am a big fan of Disney. When I am home I love to get creative with my children and enjoy painting, whether that be our faces, hands or pictures, and using our imaginations to make things or get messy! I also enjoy being creative in the kitchen, baking pretty cakes or preparing healthy meals and styling my plate with plenty of colour and making it look interesting. I also love a bit of photography, especially when it tells a story and I love to capture my families expressions when they least expect it.
SARAH
Hello! I’m Sarah, a professional hair and make up artist from Brighton.
Experience
Before setting up Powder in Pin in 2013 I experienced many years as a hairdresser at award winning salons where I was a specialist in haircutting and styling and I have undergone extensive training at Brighton Make up School where I received diplomas for hairstyling and make up. I am a qualified teacher of hair and make up and love sharing my knowledge and skills with aspiring hair and make up students.
Passion
I am very passionate about wedding hair and make up and absolutely love making people look and feel beautiful. I love everything to do with weddings - the dresses, flowers, venues, hearing a brides plans and engagement stories! I love the excitement that goes with sharing such a special occasion with a bride on the morning of their wedding!
Expertise
My favourite look to create is relaxed, boho bridal hair and natural bridal make up. I love soft, romantic hairstyles with loose curls and braids and this has ultimately become my signature style. I adore decorating hair with flowers, finishing styles with delicately adorned hair pieces and love the final part of adding a brides veil - there’s always something magical about that moment!
Let’s Get Personal
When I'm not styling hair and make up I'll usually be spending time with my fiancé Dan and our excitable Border Terrier called Gary. I love being outdoors, reading books, listening to true crime podcasts and researching the latest destination I want to travel to. I'm a glass-half-full kind of girl, I love meeting new people and am obsessed with the colour pink and anything covered in glitter. As well as managing Powder and Pin I also co-manage ‘Links of Laurel’, a wedding stationary business set up by my fiancé Dan in 2019 which I really enjoy!
